Early intervention for Melbourne children aged 0–8. A key worker coordinates support across speech, OT, parenting and community — so your family has one point of contact, not five.
Most early intervention happens in silos — one therapist for speech, another for OT, another for behaviour, and you (the parent) trying to coordinate them all while also being a parent. It’s exhausting and often results in conflicting advice.
The key worker model is different. One named, trusted clinician becomes your family’s primary point of contact. They get to know your child, your family, your context — and they coordinate the whole team around you.
The key worker is usually an allied health professional (speech pathologist, OT, or early childhood specialist) who:
The key worker model is the gold standard in early childhood intervention internationally — used in best-practice systems in the UK, New Zealand, and many parts of Europe. It’s also the model the Australian Government’s Thriving Kids advisory group explicitly recommended.

A speech pathologist treats speech. A key worker also treats speech AND coordinates everything else — OT, parent coaching, kinder communication, peer support, navigation. It's a wider lens.
Usually weekly or fortnightly. Some families need more intensive early on, then taper. The plan adapts to your child.
